Yikes!

I am trying to supress a panic attack as I realize that the Mini Marathon is just one month away! I've had such a hard time training this year - super busy schedule, this house thing, super cold weather, & my persistent 'injuries'. I go to see a sports doctor on Friday afternoon to discuss why I still have minor swelling, discomfort, & tightness in my right ankle & calf every day. That's right, rain or shine, run/walk/or no work out days, I have the same problem. So we'll see what he says. I'm scared he'll say no running ever again but hopefully not since it was doing it even when I took my three month break. I've never been so tempted to quit training, but I'm going to keep at it! I'll be at the Y tonight trying to get some miles in.
What are some of your fitness goals? How do you like to stay active?

I do not have big goals like you. But I do have a walking DVD that I really would like to do everyday. I got in 16 miles one week, but have been so busy lately that I only did 6 miles last week and have only done 5 so far this week. I hope to do 3 tonight and then 3 again on Saturday. We'll see how far I get though. Not lofty goals like you, but it's something.

Oh, I almost forgot...I hope your appointment goes well. Let us know what the doctor says.

Good for you. Steve's dad runs marathon's. He ran the Trail 100 a couple years ago. Yes, that's a hundred miles. He only made it half way. Gasp! Gasp! I don't think I've ever run even 25 miles at one time.
Did you ever run cross country at Northland? I did one year.
I hope it goes well for you.

My fitness goal at this point is to avoid seeing an "8" as the middle digit on the scale! And of course this summer my goal will be to shed the baby pounds! We'll see how that goes.

i miss running and look forward to getting back into it - we got a running stroller/travel system so when jacob is big enough/strong enough to hold up his head we can start running again....so all that to say is i have big goals after i have the baby....not many goals right now other than trying not to gain too much weight :)
you will be fine for the mini....just enjoy it and don't be afraid to walk some - it took me a while to get to that point...i think it was my 6th half marathon but i did walk part of it :)

My goals are small right now since my time is a premium. No soda, watching my daily calorie intake, and 6-8 cups of water a day are my goals right now. And I sneak in exercise here and there! I hope to be more regular when Clive gets on a more predictable schedule.

Hey Mary Ann, I hope your appointment goes well.

I've been doing 30 minutes of cardio 3x/week and 30 minutes of core strength training 2-3x/week as well as playing volleyball once a week (and that's moving up to 2x/week at least until the end of May because I joined a league) I've been trying to lay off the pop (or soda) but that's pretty hard for me, since I'm addicted to Pepsi, and generally just watch my sugar intake. I feel like I've been fairly consistent with exercise since January, but I haven't been as successful with watching my diet. That's probably why I haven't lost any weight yet. :(

I'm really impressed with your commitment to running. Go you!
