Starting Down That Path AGAIN???

I'm slowly coming out of about 10 days of just feeling held under by a sinus infection. Yesterday & today I have actually felt like I am back to normal. I didn't realize how yucky I had been feeling. It was like walking uphill all the time. Thank God for antibiotics - otherwise I would have died of snot long before now.
Anyway, this little bout with sickness has caused me to experience the temptation to worry that this winter I am going to have another ongoing battle with my pathetic immunity. I was doing a little research about immunity boosters & I kept coming across the words 'probiotics' & 'kefir'. So I bought a jug. I had a coupon. I thought, why not? But I'm just not sure what to do with it. Anybody out there ever partake of kefir? Do you just drink it straight up or do you smoothie it down? If you smoothie it, how do you do it? Do you pour it over cereal?
Give me some ideas & I'll give them a try! Maybe I'll start a little series of posts reviewing your ideas :-)

I'm not an expert on kefir, but we used to make our own using grains I got from a friend. Personally, I didn't like the taste of it unless we made it into a smoothie. It was very yummy in smoothies, though! I know some people who don't mind it straight . . . and I've never had the storebought kind, so it may be more tasty than homemade. :) I quit making it when I got pregnant with Josiah (the smell and taste kind of turned my stomach at the time), and haven't gotten back into it. It got kind of expensive, using so much milk to make it with. I know it's very beneficial for immunity, though!! Another good probiotic is yogurt, esp. plain or at the least the kind with the most active cultures and less additives. You probably already knew that though! Or you could try a good probiotic vitamin daily . . . just a couple ideas. I hope you are able to stay healthy this winter!! We deal with a lot of sickness through the winter months, too--the kids are always picking stuff up at church. :( In fact we are just finally getting over a cold/sinus thing we've had for over 2 weeks. I feel your pain! Let us know how you like the kefir! :)

I drink it straight, but I put a ton of cinnamon in with it...it just tastes like plain yogurt. You can get different flavors too, and you won't mind the taste as much.

Okay, I admit it. I have never heard of kefir.

Sorry you've been sick! So not fun at all! I am so impatient with sickness... it's not as if life can just stop but yet it needs to!

I've heard of and seen kefir but never used it. I'm just too cheap to try it. :)

I've heard it's good in smoothies though!
