This is in the basement where the washer & dryer hook ups are.
Another basement shot. I was impressed with how clean & dry the basement was. And it's a full basement so that adds a lot of storage space. I thought it would be a great place to work out if I could get a treadmill or an elliptical someday. The ceilings are a little low so I decided that aerobics down there are not a good idea - unless I want bloody knuckles!
This one is taken from the dining room into the living room and that is the front door. I love the old woodwork & the columns. And of course I love the hardwood floors!
Another living room shot with my parentals checking it out.
And this is the bedroom. Of course the sheers & powder blue flowery wall paper would have to go. But that's no big deal. In fact, the only things I think I would need to change about the whole place are wall paper/painting issues. And that equals no big deal.
The bathroom has a shower instead of a tub shower. Kinda sad, but who has time to soak anyway?
The stove & refrigerator are included in the sale of the home. The stove is gas (which I have never used in my entire life). I've heard that they are the best. Anyone have any opinion on that one? My boss told me today that he has a newer flat top electric stove that he could sell me. There is an outlet that would accomodate an electric stove. Something to think about. Seriously let me know if you think gas is better & why.
I love this built in cabinet dealie. There is also a big pantry like cabinet around the corner (which is good because there is very limited cabinet/counter top space.
I know what you're all thinking - this house is perfect because the kitchen is decorated in sunflowers! And yes, sunflowers are one of my very favorite flowers, but no, I do not want them dancing all over my kitchen walls!
So that's a brief tour of the house I am hoping to buy. I will hopefully be able to get the mortgage application turned in & approved this week. My uncle's uncle is the one who owned the home & sadly he passed away last week. That puts us in different territory as far as the legality of the situation. He left no will & his sister's authority as power of attorney ceased at the time of death. Now the estate will go into probate. I really have no idea what all of this truly means but I think it translates into waiting a lot longer for the sale to be final. I will keep you all posted!

Ooooh, the house looks really nice!! And you can always remodel :) and replace the shower with a tub if you so desire (I'm a huge tub fan because I love soaking in them--plus Julia was born in ours, LOL). And I love the built in cabinet thingie, too!! The whole house looks wonderful and I hope that it works out for you to buy it (and that the legalities won't take too long :)).
That's a really nice how. yes,the built in cabinet is nice!!! Can't wait to see it one day.
great looking place! what charm & character! what's the yard like? i never liked cooking on gas stoves. lighting the pilot light always freaked me out and i never felt like i got a good "low" on the burners. it was high or nothing on our old gas stove!
i love the old wood throughout the house - we have a electric stove now and had a gas one before - didn't notice a huge difference but i am not the cooking professional :)
hopefully something will happen soon.
ok, I love cooking on a gas stove. To me its so much easier to control then the electric. I think in time you will learn to like it.
I love it!!! It looks like a keeper and there is so much potential for decorating. Please don't tell me that you will paint everything white or I just might get sick. Color, color, color! I have used gas at camp and really like the way it cooks. The heat is there instantly, which is nice. I have to say though that I prefer baking with electric.
Hey! The house is absolutely adorable, and, you were right, it looks like he kept it in excellent condition. I've had 2 gas stoves and 2 electric. The only benefit I saw to gas was that it was instantly hot, and then instantly not, when you turned it off. Both the gas ones I've had (in rental properties) had an automatic pilot, so I didn't have to actually light it - it went on w/ a dial like an electric stove. But I'm with Alicia in that the whole gas thing always made me a bit nervous. I grew up cooking on an electric stove, but it didn't really take much getting used to. Didn't notice any difference really in quality between the two. That's my "two cents" for whatever it's worth (probably about $0.02 :o) )
Wow, it lookes great! congratulations. I really like cooking on a gas stove better, mainly because you can control the heat. I especially noticed a difference when cooking things that want you to bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat to simmer--sometimes an electric stove won't reduce the heat quickly enough, and then I end up scalding whatever is in my pan. That's just my 2 cents.
Forgot to mention that I like gas stoves better than electric . . . as some of the others mentioned, the heat is a bit easier to control. The one we have now, I'm not as crazy about the "low" setting because it doesn't go as low as I would like. But other than that, it's great. Also, I *think* that gas stoves are cheaper to run than electric . . . I'd have to ask my hubby for sure, though; he's the one that knows more about that than I do.
The house looks wonderful! I too like all the wood work, especially because it looks like it's been kept up nicely.
I prefer a gas stove for two main reasons: 1. I think it is easier to control the heat on a gas oven because you can turn the flame down or up and get an immediate response. My mom has one of the newer flat top electric stoves and I have found it to be a challenge at times (though it is easier to clean up). 2. I think the oven cooks more evenly rather than just getting heat from the top and bottom heating elements.
Keep us posted on how things progress with the house!
I think I expected more of a fixer-upper -- not that that's bad but since you're already busy...it's nice that you don't have to go through that process unless it's stuff you want to change. This is great! Hope the wait isn't too long.
