Two Weeks Off...

I'm not sure how well you can see what I was actually trying to take a picture of. This is one blade of the ceiling fan that hangs in our bedroom. We have black furniture in there. Love, love, love the way the black furniture contrasts with the deep red walls & white woodwork. Hate, hate, hate how the dust shows on that black furniture. *sigh* Due to my surgery, I took a couple weeks off from my normal cleaning routine. Wouldn't you know - a huge, long, icky looking cobweb hangs from the fan blade.
Don't worry. I nabbed that icky cobweb. And all of his friends. After some hard work on Saturday, our house is very nearly in tiptop shape again. I never dreamed I would be so picky about keeping a neat & tidy house but I feel so much more relaxed when things are clean & put away. Ahhh...
Do you agree? Or do you think housework should always, no matter what, be at the bottom of the To Do List, endlessly pushed off until the next day?

I'm with you, Mary Ann! Never thougt I'd be so bugged by dust/clutter/cobwebs! And it's difficult sometimes to place cleaning on the back burner. Glad you're feeling better!

It's a constant battle for me - I LOVE having everything put away, I love it when there is no clutter...I HATE to dust, with a passion. But I do love the result. And I have to remind myself to have balance - no point in having a clean house if the boys are being parented by a housework-distracted mom...or my husband is feeling neglected as I furiously clean once the boys are asleep!! :-) So I'm learning to deal with "good enough"

I always feel better with all my house work done. I find when it's done I can truly relax. Otherwise, I'm sitting there thinking about all I should be doing instead. I love for everything to have a place, but do struggle to get it there. :) Love you!

Good for you! I didn't care until I married a man who cared! He had the cleanest bachelor pad in the whole world! Now as we age, we have obtained a more balanced approach.:) We have mellowed each other out!

I can't truly enjoy and relax unless the house is clean !ecause I will have a million to do lists on my mind - that said assuming your house doesn't have like bugs or rodents running around (I know yours doesn't and neither does mine) I can deal with the clutter if I tell myself it is more important to have face time with my kids than to worry about perfection. They aren't going to remember that there were cookie crumbs on the rug and the coffee table isn't shined with a perfect flower arrangement. They are going to remember getting up early and playing Dollhouse with Daddy for hours and Mommy and Daddy teaching them to cook. They will remember the milk spills at the kitchen table if you make a big deal of it, but they are more likely to remember you tucking them in bed and reading to them every night and being pushed on the swings at the park than the mountain of laundry you need to do.
