Gettin' It Done!

Every once in a while I have to give myself a thumbs up to keep from getting a little discouraged.  I am a crazy list maker.  I have to write everything down.  When you do that, there are always many, many things that might not get marked off for a very long time.  Cue discouragement!  So today I'm going to list a couple of things where actual progress has taken place!  By the way, don't you love that graphic?  My G-pa often gives us the thumbs up & he does a little shake with it just like this guy.  Good stuff.

  1. I have completed six weeks of my Mini training program.  I'm still not up to Olympic level but I have 10 more weeks to get there.  No reason to rush *grin*
  2. Mike has made major progress on our bookshelves.  I will post all about them when they are done, placed, & loaded up.  They are going to be Fab.U.Lous
  3. I have made some progress on the quilt.  There are now four strips sewn together.  They don't match up even slightly but why worry about details?  I can worry about details on the next quilt.  If there is a next quilt.
  4. Our federal & state taxes have been filed. *whew*  I dread that every year & try to put it off but Mike can be quite the little encourager - "let's get it done & over with" is definitely his tax filing mantra.
  5. I have now experimented with spaghetti squash & butternut squash.  Next I want to try acorn squash & I want to try making kale chips.  I feel the need to experiment with many vegetables so I can decide if we would get good use out of a CSA membership this summer.
  6. By the time this post is posted, our house should be spin 'n span clean.  That is always an accomplishment; can I get an amen?
  7. I am almost done reading "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader".  It is oh so very entertaining!
  8. I am not buried under mountains of laundry; can I get another amen?
  9. I am trying to grow my hair out so that I can donate it.  This is going to be a very hard goal for me.  Every time I go get my hair colored I want to tell Deann to chop it.  This last week I made it through one more appointment without asking for the chop.  She estimates I have about six months to go.
  10. I am way behind on my chronological Bible reading program.  But I have a plan for The Big Catchup.  There is still hope!
Ahhh...there it is - my virtual thumbs up!  If any of you are drowning under massive To Do Lists take a moment to think about what all you have gotten done.  You will surprise yourself & you just might get a little burst of energy to keep on doing!  Happy weekend to you all!

The Dawn Treader is one of my favorites in the narnia series! The movie was good but the book is SO MUCH BETTER. Can't really compare the two.

Ooh, let me know how the kale chips turn out!

And great job on all you've accomplished!

This is a great idea. I'm also buried under my to do lists that just seem to get added to and become longer and more burdensome. I need perspective! I'll try to step back and see what I HAVE done and stop focusing on what I HAVEN'T done. :)

This is a wonderful kind of list! We should celebrate our achievements, no matter how small, as well as listing all the things we need to do in the future! I want to try making some Kale chips too, I'm not sure how if I'll like them though!

Might wanna check if you can donate your hair first...if you process it (perm or color) often or at all some places will not take it.
